| Comments: | Indie-Folk Cellist Christopher Bell on Tour with Band
Indie folk cellist/song-writer Christopher Bell will be playing at the Pegasus Lounge in Tampa, FL, on July 25, 2010, at 7 pm 2010. Bell’s unconventional approach to a traditionally classical instrument sets him apart from the rest.
Independent musician Christopher Bell has been touring solo for over four years as a multi-instrumentalist loop artist. He still loops his cello, but now he’s backed by a band. Joined by Jesse Houle on guitar and Jenny Jade Albert on keyboard, Bell bows melodies and plucks bass lines. He now has the opportunity to expand on his complex arrangements with the added bonus of lush three-part vocals.
“Playing with a band gives me more freedom to explore each song to its full musical potential,” Bell said. This diverse combination of cello, acoustic guitar, and rhodes-style keyboard lends itself to Bell’s signature complex harmonies. By utilizing a classical sensibility in his arrangements of pop-folk, Bell creates a dynamic sound that is far and away his own.
Christopher has spent the last four years touring independently, averaging at 120 shows a year. He also runs an independent record label, Silent Home Records, on which he has produced bands from both Boston and Michigan. Bell is from Jamestown, NY.
The Pegasus Lounge is located at 10008 North 30th Street, Tampa, FL. Also playing are Rodeo Ruby Love, Atlas Rising, and Room Fu. The cost is $5.00 for 21+, and $7.00 for under 21.
